Al-Li alloy is new aluminum alloy with lithium as major element. Li is the lightest metal element in periodic table of the elements whose density is only 0.534g/cm3. Adding 1% (weight ratio) lithium into aluminum, the weight of alloy can be 3% lower and the elasticity modulus will be 6% higher. The manufactured structure becomes lighter but stronger. With research and development, new Al-Li alloys become popular, such as 1460 and Weldalite series with high strength and weldability, 2097 and 2197 alloy with good tenacity, C2155 alloy with good anti-crack property and XT series with special vacuum treatment, etc.
