How To Store Steel?

1. Select suitable site and warehouse

Steel storage site, should be selected in a clean, well-drained place, away from the production of harmful gas or dust factories and mines. Remove weeds and debris from the site and keep the steel clean.

In the warehouse may not with acid, alkali, salt, cement and other corrosive materials of steel stacked together. Different types of steel should be stacked separately to prevent confusion and corrosion.

Storehouse should be chosen according to geographical condition, use commonly enclosed storehouse, have roof to have wall, door window namely close, set the storehouse of ventilated device. Storeroom is required to pay attention to ventilation on sunny days, pay attention to keep away from moisture on rainy days, and always maintain an appropriate storage environment.

2. Reasonable stacking, first in, first out

The principle requirement of stacking is to stack according to varieties and specifications under the condition of stably stacking and ensuring safety, so as to prevent confusion and mutual corrosion.

It is forbidden to store the corrosive materials near the stack. Pile bottom should pad high, strong, flat, prevent material damp or deformation. The same material according to the storage successively stacking, easy to implement the first first principle.

The section steel stacked in the open air, there must be a wooden pad or a strip of stone below, to facilitate drainage, and pay attention to the materials placed flat, to prevent bending deformation. The Angle steel and channel steel stacked in the open air should be bent, the groove surface of steel should not be upward, so as to avoid water and rust.

3. Packaging and protective coating of protective materials

Preservatives or other coating and packaging applied before leaving the factory are important measures to prevent corrosion of materials, which should be protected during transportation and loading and unloading without damage, and the storage period of materials can be extended.

4. Keep warehouse clean, strengthen material maintenance

Material before entering storage should pay attention to prevent rain or mixed impurities, to have rain or dirty material to use different methods according to its nature wipe, such as high hardness can be used steel wire brush, low hardness with cloth, cotton and other things.

Material storage should be checked regularly, if there is corrosion, should remove the corrosion layer.Generally, the surface of steel is cleaned after cleaning, without oil, but for high-quality steel, alloy steel plate, thin-wall tube, alloy steel tube, etc., the inside and outside surface shall be coated with anti-rust oil before storage.
