Iron chrome aluminum (FeCrAl) alloy wire is a high-resistance wire that can be used at temperatures of up to 1,400°C. These alloys have a higher surface loading capability than other materials and offer higher resistivity and lower density compared to nickel chrome (NiCr). This means FeCrAl alloy wire can be used at a higher temperature while also offering a longer lifespan. FeCrAl alloy wire is an excellent electrical insulator, and the material forms a light grey aluminum oxide when it’s used at temperatures over 1,000°C.
