The average tensile strength of Haynes 188 in the bright annealed state at room temperature is 946MPa, the yield strength is 464MPa, and the elongation is 53%. At 1800 ° F (980 ° C), they are 243MPa, 131MPa, and 59%, respectively. Low temperature will not have a significant impact on the ductility of the alloy, but its mechanical properties will be significantly enhanced. The excellent antioxidant properties of Haynes 188 are attributed to the addition of lanthanum in its composition. The addition of lanthanum enhances the protective oxide film by providing strong adhesion and hindering diffusion when exposed to temperatures of 2100 ° F (1150 ° C).

Due to its excellent strength, ductility, and oxidation resistance, Haynes 188 meets the requirements of gas turbine applications and many critical high-temperature materials in the fields of fuselage, chemistry, and nuclear engineering.
